Appointment System


Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus access to the surgery is strictly limited to appointment only. This will minimise the spread of infection and keep patients and staff safe. Appointment requests are all triaged by a clinician who will decide if a face to face appointment is necessary or can be mitigated by a telephone consultation. Please do not visit the practice without an appointment. 

The practice is open from 08.00 to 18.00 Monday to Friday. Please visit our surgery-hours page to see a timetable of clinician availability for the normal working week. Please note that surgery and clinic times vary and there may be changes to accommodate holidays, training and sickness absence.

Please give Reception as much information as possible which will enable us to get you an appointment sooner with the correct clinician. Please see details of Services that our clinical team provide

Appointments are for 10 minutes and are by appointment only. Please inform reception if you think you will need a longer appointment. The Practice is not a walk-in centre and does not provide a walk-in facility.

Please avoid bringing more children than are easily managed to your appointment. This will ensure you make the most of your consultation time with the doctor or nurse.

Appointments may be pre-booked several weeks in advance and may be booked online. Please login to our online services to book an appointment.

We aim to provide urgent appointments within 24 hours with any member of the clinical team, or within 48 hours with a doctor. We also have a number of priority appointments that can be allocated by a GP if a routine appointment is not appropriate. Please ask the receptionist if you would like to request a priority appointment. Please note that requests for same day appointments received after 10:30am will be unlikely to be facilitated. The practice will make an assessment of the need for an appointment that day on the information provided.

The Practice is involved in training GP Registrars. If you do not wish trainees to be present during a consultation please let us know.

Should I see a Doctor, a Nurse or a Healthcare Assistant?

Please give reception as much information as possible which will enable us to get you an appointment sooner with the most appropriate clinician. Please be assured that all staff are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors.

Cancelling Appointments

If you wish to cancel an appointment, please text ‘CANCEL’ and your name and appointment date to 07528 389382.

Non-Urgent services by Telephone

Please try and telephone between 9.00 and 13.00 for:

  • General Enquiries
  • Repeat Prescriptions
  • Test Results (see below)

Telephone Consultations

Appointments for telephone consultations with a doctor are available on a number to suit you (including mobiles). These are an alternative to attending normal surgery.

Telephone consultations are appropriate for:-

  • Follow up appointments
  • Medication reviews
  • Discussion of test results

Home Visit Requests

The majority of problems are most appropriately dealt with at the Health Centre. We expect all patients to try to attend surgery unless they are seriously ill or infirm. If you feel you require a home visit, a request should be made before 10.30am.

Extended Opening Hours

Patients can book late evening or weekend appointments at the Hub at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary or at a local practice by contacting reception.

Staff Training and Development

The Practice closes on one afternoon per month for staff training and development. We are supported by NHS Kirklees and the Out of Hours service during this time. In an emergency please telephone the usual practice number and you will be directed appropriately.
