Dearne Valley Health Centre is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm. We also provide an extended hours surgery on Tuesday evenings between 6.30pm and 8.00pm by pre-booked appointment only.

Extended Opening Hours

The practice offers a weekly late evening clinic by appointment only. This is to help patients who are unable to get to the surgery in normal opening times. The clinic runs from 18.30 to 20.00 aon a Tuesday and appointments are available with a GP or a member of the nursing team. These appointments are bookable on-line or by contacting reception. Alternatively patients can book late evening or weekend appointments at the Hub at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary by contacting reception.

Staff Training and Development

The Practice closes on one afternoon per month for staff training and development. We are supported by NHS Kirklees and the Out of Hours service during this time. In an emergency please telephone the usual practice number and you will be directed appropriately.

Out of hours care can be contacted on 01484 862793 from 6pm to 6.30pm.

Outside of the above hours you can access health care advice through the NHS website at If you require urgent care that cannot wait until we re-open please ring the NHS urgent care line on 111. Please be aware that this line can sometimes be very busy but your call will always be answered. The 111 line is free from landlines and mobile phones in the UK. NHS 111 also have a website where you can seek help and advice.
